Research Notes:

  1. William "Billy" EDWARDS may have been in the North Carolina Regiment during the 1838 Indian Removal. John D., Milton F., William, and William R EDWARDS are listed as Buncombe County participants in the NCGENWEB document, 1838 Indian Removal North Carolina Regiment, submitted by Derick S. Hartshorn. William "Billy" EDWARDS would have been about 34 years old at the time of the Indian Removal.
  2. Polly B. Edwards grave is at Tipton Hill, NC, on a ridge behind Ed Tipton's house. It is in the woods and not a managed cemetery. There appear to be other graves and they are marked by upright unmarked stones. Polly's marked as follows " Polly Edwards, Died ????". One of the adjoining graves may be that of her husband William. This plot of graves was visited on Sunday, December 2, 1990.(1)
  3. "On November 6, 1863, William Edwards executed a deed to Polly Ann Edwards for a tract of land. For details see Yancy County deed, Book #6, Page 294. After that date (November 9, 1863) we have been unable to find any reference to William. William married Mary Polly BOWMAN about 1829."(1)

Edwards Family Genealogy Forum, submitted by Jan Wallace on 7/17/02, "Seeking info on Joseph Edwards and wife Susannah of Cumberland Co., N.C. Joseph's will recorded in Cumberland Co., 1784-86. Children: Charles who married Jane Lowe, Benjamin, Joel, Elizabeth, Mary, Sarah, Jean, Gilla, Lucy, Susannah, and Nancy. Would like to know if Nancy was the same Nancy Edwards who married William A. Johnson, also in Cumberland Co., N.C."
